Free Hazmat Endorsement Cheat Sheet

A good cheat sheet does one job: it organizes what to review so nothing slips through before test day. This page is a free, printable-style checklist for the CDL Hazmat endorsement, focused on the visual recognition piece that trips most people up.

It is a study aid only. CDL Placards is an independent tool and is not affiliated with any government agency, and no checklist can guarantee a pass. Use this alongside your official state CDL manual.

What to review before your Hazmat test

Work top to bottom. If you can do all of this from memory, you are in good shape on the placard side of the test.

  • Name all nine hazard classes and their colors
  • Recognize the symbol inside each placard diamond
  • Read the class or division number at the bottom
  • Tell apart the common look-alike placards
  • Know when a four-digit identification number appears
  • Practice under a timer so recognition is fast, not just eventually correct
